Sedation Dentistry

Sedation DentistryNitrous oxide may just make your next dental visit a bit easier. Dental anxiety is a common problem that affects millions of people across the country. Some may feel uncomfortable or nervous during treatments, but others may have such severe anxieties that they are unable to get routine or other dental care. Our goal is to help you become more confident and relaxed each time you visit us for cleanings, checkups, or other necessary dental care.

You may be a candidate for treatment with nitrous oxide if you:

•    Feel anxious or fearful
•    Prefer a type of sedation in which you are able to stay conscious and awake
•    Have a sensitive gag reflex
•    Nitrous oxide can also be an excellent option for children.

The gas is mixed with oxygen and scented, and it is administered through a mask that is placed over the nose. It goes to work right away, and within just a few minutes, you will begin to feel deeply relaxed or even drowsy. Nitrous oxide has been used for many years and has been found to be both safe and effective. Most people have no or extremely limited side effects, and once your treatment is finished, the gas leaves your system quickly and without any lingering effects. You can even go back to your normal daily routine immediately after your appointment without feeling drowsy or drugged.

Many people develop dental phobias after a bad experience or because some dental procedures have been shrouded in mystery and fear. We want to make each of your visits to us pleasant and comfortable, which is why our team is committed to maintaining a warm, compassionate atmosphere. We play soothing music and have an attractively designed office environment, and now we are pleased to be able to offer our patients nitrous oxide for even greater relaxation.

Dental anxiety should not keep you from getting the care you need. Nitrous oxide can make each visit relaxing and calm, and we can completely tailor the dosage to better meet your needs. Give us a call to learn more about sedation dentistry or to schedule your next appointment.
